You can go not camping. What id say 90% at beach etc do... just follow signs to which part u wanted go to...w out pass fr campground may not b able on that particular spot but if not camping there wouldn't b need to. There's grills picnic tables grass areas etc over by beach.
You may be able to go and explore, but won't have parking spot past the gate. However I believe you may be able to short term park at the main office lot, at the entrance of the park.
