Most of the pathways are hardtop, and the majority of the park is wheelchair friendly. Hope this helps!
Garden walkways and paths are mostly hardscape, with main walkways comprised of aggregate concrete, sealed concrete, paving stone, asphalt and brick. We have ramps available anywhere there are stairs, such as going access into the Fountain Garden and into the Conservatory. The fall in terrain along the top of the Maine path between the Asian Valley entrance and Central Garden to the entrance of the West Island Garden is about 22 feet (over a distance of 520 feet). There is a wheelchair-accessible Tree House and mulched areas in the Children’s Garden use a mulch designed for wheelchairs.
Yes the pathways are paved/concrete. There is some slight downhill going toward Japanese gardens and to the pond. Then uphill to the entrance.
There are plenty of easily navigable paths for wheelchairs, along with plenty of shaded areas to rest and observe.
Wheelchairs shouldn't have a problem navigating the gardens at all.
