I would call it neither Mediterranean nor French, just incredibly eclectic foodie.
It is a wonderfully tasty restaurant. You should enjoy it.
The Mediterranean includes all the countries that border the Med sea on the African and Europeon continents. This area covers over 20 countries. Besides the usual suspects of Greece, Italy, Spain and France, it includes Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, ..ah, heck, just google it! So many amazing influences can be wrapped into this designation! But, I agree that some people might be confused by this term.
Not sure if i would say that the food has any distinct national "theme". I would say that they take inspiration from traditional offerings and plate them in their own way. I would simply look at the menu and decide if you like them. I would not hold fast to someone's "Mediterranean" categorizations.
It really is its own thing. A little French, a little Italian, a little American....
