It was our favorite chill bar that we visited in Madison. We were there playing darts long enough that we went through 2 bartenders...both of which were very friendly. Had a blast and we will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Saturday was the first time in a long time that I came to this place. A group of friends and I went to the bar we asked if they had a certain drink immediately she [ black bald lady bartender ] asks for our ID... didn’t answer the question, she started at my ID for about 10 mins like it wasn’t me I then stated my birthday, skimmed one of my friends ID and didn’t even bother to look at my last friends ID . I asked for a drink another bartender brought back the wrong one, I told her that was not the drink I wanted the ( black bald lady) came to me and said “ Ma I already opened that one” and I told her that’s not the one that I wanted. She went back and forth with me about a beer that I didn’t want and ended the conversation with “we don’t serve your kind” she didn’t serve my friends or I that night. We asked the other bartender if she could help us and she said she had to listen to the bald lady.. I asked what each ladies name were and they told me they didn’t have to tell me shrugged their shoulders and said call but good luck we’re closed Sunday Monday. Other people were trying to buy us drinks and she told them she would kick them out. Long story short worse ever.

This establishment is part of an exciting metamorphosis occurring on the East Washington corridor. The Star Bar is a fantastic stopping point to grab some craft beers and cocktails when partaking in the sights and sounds in this revitalized neighborhood. Things I like: * The free, covered parking is provided for Star Bar patrons on the Constellation Building's first floor garage. * A great nice selection of tap beers and almost 100 bottled beer options. * Outdoor seating in the summer months. * They are totally cool about food carry-ins. * The bartenders are super-friendly, knowledgeable about the beer options and attentive. * Freakishly clean restrooms for those of you out there that wonder about this sort of thing.

Atmosphere is nice. Not too fancy or a dive. Music and tv selection is good. Crowds aren't ever out of control. The bar is cash only starting in 2018.
