I've always avoided car washes because they seem to leave minute scratches in the paint and in time the paint becomes dull. Does this car wash use a different system that avoids this?

The small "scratches" are swirl marks in the clearcoat. This happens even if you wash your car at home. They are mostly visible on darker vehicles in the sunlight. An easy remedy is to wax your car the recommended twice a year. Not only will it help protect your cars paint but will also maintain the shine that you expect!
