Basically you walk into Nox'son a stormy Wednesday evening. You sit down with your wife and two kids. The waiter comes by to take your order as you hungrily ask for the shrimp. 15 minutes later everybody is served. Your wife and kids ordered the shrimp as well. As the night morphs into inky blackness outside you all talk and laugh and eat. You eat plate after plate after plate of shrimp. After a couple hours, you and your family are stuffed. You motion to the waiter to bring the bill and look down at your plate, letting out a small chuckle. It looks like you haven't even eaten a single bit of shrimp- a curious thing since you have been gorging yourself on shrimp constantly for the better part of two hours. But before you can puzzle over this small oddity any longer, the waiter bustles over to your table and hands you the bill. As you reach over to grab the check your hand closes instead around a squishy pile of shrimp. There is no check being held out to you, just another plate of shrimp. A loud thunderclap booms outside as you look up at the waiter to ask why he brought you more shrimp instead of the check, when you are suddenly alarmed to find not the waiter, but a giant, human-sized shrimp in server attire staring blankly down at you. You spin around in your seat to see if your wife can see the shrimp waiter and are immediately frightened out of your wits. Your wife is no longer seated there next to you- only another human-sized shrimp wearing your wife's dress and hoop earrings.

A colleague and I stopped in for lunch during a business trip, and my only regret is that I didn't get to spend more time in there. The bartenders were very cute, friendly, and personable. The mushroom and Swiss burger was the biggest damned burger I ever had, and it's deliciousness was the only reason I was (almost) able to eat it all. I couldn't finish the fries. Unfortunately I had to go back to work after such a satisfying lunch, what I wanted to do was take a nap. I expect I will be back in Pittsburgh again on another trip and I intend to stop in this tavern again. That's a bar I could belly up to and throw some beers back while enjoying the atmosphere, the food, and the people. By some people's definition, it might be a hole-in-the-wall, but that's Nox's charm. Thanks for a great lunch and I'm sure you will see me again!

It was 5pm friday night when we visited. It was extremely busy but the service was top notch. Our food was fresh & delicious. Our wait time was less than 10 minutes. For myself, the juke box was loud. It was hard to hear anyone. Even when seated right next to them. Overall I recommend this great establishment.

The service was nice but the chairs were very uncomfortable to sit in. I went on Tuesday so they had their taco Tuesday. One taco for $2. The taco was good but nothing special. I had their Nox burger which I figured would be their staple. It was okay but was over cooked for what I asked and really did not have much flavor. The burger was very tender but that's really all it has going for it. I've gotten more flavor from a McDouble. Now their sweet potatoe fries. Those were amazing. They had a nice size and flavor. Their normal steak fries were meh. Not bad but not good. I might visit again when they have their wing night and see how those are as it seems to be what they are known for.

Yes, parking is a challenge but it is well worth it. The food is very good.
