the Shenandoah is not an animal, but a park.
A great abundance of many muscular mother black bear with 1-2 young cubs can be stumbled upon while hiking along the Appalachian Trail certain times of the year. Always be very vigilant and highly attentive whenever hiking through the Backcountry of the Shannondoah National Park. Never ignore the well posted " Black Bear Alert" signs.
Many birds are around. Even if you don't see them, you will hear them. We saw dear in the distance as some were eating and some running away. It's beautiful and so peaceful.
We saw baby bear on the side of the road, deer. Walked in an accessible pathway with my sister in a scooter... squirrels and small lizards. Does this help?
