I my experience there is not much of a desire to diagnose anything. My loved one never even got medication that would treat his supposed condition. Just being in that hospital caused PTSD which complicated his original diagnosis. My best advice is to stabilize the person as much as possible and try to get in for intensive treatment with a psychiatrist.
Patients who enter into treatment are encouraged to discuss their diagnosis with their psychiatric medical provider.
