Yuan Fu is actually vegan! It’s not that uncommon for vegan restaurants to sometimes use ‘vegetarian’ in their name or marketing, Vegetable Garden in Silver Spring also sometimes refers to itself as a vegetarian restaurant but it’s actually vegan also. Technically, all vegan restaurants are by definition vegetarian as well, but Yuan Fu uses no animal products of any kind. Perfect for food allergies and dietary restrictions! They also mark down on the menu which of their items contain gluten, and which items are especially spicy.
According to our hostess, no egg or milk is used anywhere (not even in the egg drop soup). I went here with a vegan friend, and she assured him that everything on the menu was free of animal products. That being said, it was all delicious, even the "meat" dishes.
They have delicious vegetarian Chinese food. They also don't use garlic! If you go at lunch time you will be able to see several different dishes that you can choose three of them for around $8. I don't think they use eggs but I am sure they will hold it back if that's your desire
