In my recent experience I did not have to show an ID. However, on the same journey a single bus was overbooked by 5 people which caused a domino effect of other issues. Perhaps if identification had been checked for ticketed passengers then non-ticketed wouldn't have been allowed to board. People were also allowed to board with larger baggage than Greyhound States is allowed. It's important to note that this did not happen at the Fort Worth station which is much more friendly and efficient than other stations I've been to. So, on second note: yes, you will have to show identification-- at the FORT WORTH station. Safe travels!
I've never had to, only ones I know of that need to show I.D. are seniors using a reduced fair ticket.
