You can reserve one online ahead of time. They will place you on a waiting list if they are all taken if you don't have a reservation. They have manual and electric models for rental starting at $10 for the manual wheelchair.

Yes, get there early. Be advised though that some of the paths in the zoo only fit 2 people so it's difficult to get through the crowd. I'd recommend the non motorized wheelchair.

I rented mine it kept great charge and had great speed I spent 40 reserved and it was smooth getting it from welcome center
They rent two types. One has a canopy cover to block the sun and the other does not. Rental is $30 for the day.
