Is the trio and access affected by the government shutdown? I am scheduled to camp for 3 nights a week from now and concerned about it being a bust.

The ferry isn't run by the NPS, so it will be running. As long as you don't need rangers on the island, you should be fine (the campground is outside the fort).

I know that the shutdown does affect national parks. Call the yankee freedom or use web site to see if they boat people to fort jefferson during shutdown

Call the Ferry Service and ask them. It is my understanding that they have the contract with the National Park Service to carry visitors to the Fort and therefore should know if it is open to the public.
