I have a vehicle that is currently paid off, title is under my name and unregistered due to transferring the plates to my new vehicle. I went in to the DMV to get a temp tag so I can drive it to get inspected, but was told I can't get one. Why not?

I just barley bought a car. I jave put repairs into it to get it to pass emissions cause the check light kept coming on. So I was told I had to do a drive cycle to set emission monitors. Either all monitors come on then boom check light on. Gets cleared and repeat drive cycle. I have already failed 3 tests and had 4 temp tags. Could I get another one to drive to set cycle

you need to pay all tax on purchase just like as if you was doing your yearly thing then they will give you a temararey tag bring the title with you

Hi Christina! In order to get a temporary tag you do have to pay the full registration fee, $6 for the title, $6 for new plates, plus 6$ for the temporary tag. Come in with your title that shows there is no lien holder and we should be able to take care of you! There may be circumstances where we can't do it that same day but based off the limited info in your question you should be good. Hope this was helpful.
