No sane person would swim in the San Antonio River.
It is not recommended. The zoo discharges to the river, and while they do treat it they don't always have capacity to treat it all.

If you wanted to I suppose you could. I've seen people canoe, kayak, and paddle board in this stretch of the river, but not sure I would recommend swimming here.
I don't believe you can swim. I have never seen anyone swim there. Also no lifeguards on duty.
