The Shut-in Trail and the Mountain to Sea Trail run together from Bent Creek to Pisgah. The Shut-in trail is older than the Mountain to Sea trail.
You can easily pick up the 1,175-mile long Mountains-to-Sea Trail from this overlook. This section is called Shut-In Trail. There is a well-marked blue spur trail across the street from the parking area (you can see it on Google Street View) that takes you right to the white-blazed MST trail. Enjoy!
