TLDR: go elsewhere if you're trying to get an IUD placed in a timely manner. I hate writing this negative review because my direct experience with my primary care provider has been great, however I want people who are considering getting an IUD placed with Family Health Centers to have fair warning. I have essentially had to reschedule my IUD appointment three times in a row due to administrative mistakes/lack of availability before I finally gave up and went elsewhere. First, they require that the placement be done during your period, but getting scheduled during that time was difficult, then when my period came a few days early I ended up having to cancel the appointment as they were unable to reschedule it to match up with my cycle that month. Next month, they let me know a few days before my placement appointment that they haven't ordered the IUD yet (??) and it would not arrive in time for my appointment, so I had to reschedule once again. Then, there were no available appointments next month during my predicted period with the doctor who was supposed to do the placement. Instead of agreeing to delay it yet again and having to wait until September, I asked about getting scheduled with a different provider who could place it during my period in August. They put me on hold then the call was terminated. At that point, I finally called my OBGYN instead (which I really should have done in the first place, lesson learned).

Stay clear of Family health centers! I have been going to them for years and the service and care has gone down hill. I understand nurses and doctors are being overworked right now, but they are so disorganized and aren’t able to communicate with anyone there. I was recently there for a back injury and saw Cindy Stephens. I was having urine incontinence and she denied me getting an mri and just prescribed PT…. She just blew me off and when I continued to call the office to talk with her about an mri no one could communicate and somehow they started saying I was seeing a different doctor? SO DISORGANIZED! The only reason I don’t give this place a 1 star is because Rich Burris at the Arden location is super thorough and responsive with his patients and makes up for the disorganization and malpractice of Family Health Centers.

I just read all these low reviews. They are hilarious and totally transparent. I have been a patient of Dr. Cooks since 2014 and have not had any of the issues these people claim. Not once. I have been insured and self pay and was treated the same. There has always been a discount for self pay. And the staff, all the staff, have always been friendly. I can only speak about my doctor, but he has always been there for me during unexpected issues. He's always been kind, knowledgeable, and professional.
