There is an area for adjustment which has them held in very large cages until they can adjust to shelter life and let their medications work, etc. After they become more adjusted to living with multiple cats, have had their medications properly applied and are more able to be part of the family, they enter a smaller indoor area with a lot of cat trees and food, calming areas, and available litter boxes. Past that area is a very large outdoor enclosure which they are free to roam in and out at their leisure. This shelter is amazing, and they do their absolute best for the cats. Highly recommend it as a choice to adopt or place in their care if you don't have the means.
Both. I cannot be sure, but I think some cats were caged in large cages for safety. Others were in a huge room roaming freely. I took a stray in and she was placed in a cage. Most of the cages were large.
This is a great place and they have very sweet cats.
