Get an appointment date before going going in person. I doubt that is necessary. Be prepared to spend several Nights. Eat light meal the night before or take a laxative the day before. You might be waiting outside the Consulate gate for hours. Arrive before 0830. Do not insult the gate staff as some of them will be processing your application.
