I was reminded recently that I do indeed need to leave a review for this staff. I’m unsure if staffing has changed in the last year, but here is our experience from 2021. Helping my partner with his Greek documentation was among the worst professional experiences I’ve ever encountered - EVER. I was so flabbergasted by the rudeness and lack of basic assistance that I truly thought the staff was joking the first time I called. After being hung up on two or three times by the incredibly standoffish (for no reason whatsoever) secretary / front of office woman, my partner strategized by showing up in person. My partner was met with more incompetence and rudeness. You would think we were treating them poorly, when in fact, we were readily accommodating, over-prepared, prompt with various paperwork and simply wanted basic answers. Again, we were genuinely confused by the treatment and had never experienced anything like it. This consulate is a Greek tragedy. The staff does not hold basic kindness or even a will to help their constituents. It’s embarrassing for them, although I doubt they care because people that act like that openly have little to no remorse in their actions. I wish I had recorded our interactions for proof, although it seems many of you reading have probably had a similar experience. Advice: Reach out to the consulate in NYC. They were very helpful. We let them know the unfortunate situation and then all the sudden, Mr. Dimopoulos seemed to leap into action. Edit to respond to the reply: I kindly stepped out of the process once it was made clear to us that I couldn’t ask basic questions on his behalf. I was merely helping him get affairs in order and I respected your guidelines immediately. I was in no way offended by this boundary you put in place and in fact, understood. However, this factor did not change his experience (and now my experience) with your staff. If anything, this suggests that the reputation of the consulate reaches beyond the Greek community in Atlanta. One of your jobs is to represent your country and people. You did the opposite and here I am writing this a year later because it was so memorable. Yet another response: You write as if requested documents weren’t made available to you and that I am ignorant and somehow don’t understand these type of proceedings. None of the correspondence to you was at out of the realm of ordinary questions from a constituent. The process for his type of requests (which you kindly are sharing details on the internet - again, your professionalism is top tier) can naturally be confusing. It was your horrible attitude (as further proven by this exchange) that soured the experience. It is clear your office does not want to take accountability. When you dish out rudeness, people will match you with that energy. Don’t place blame on your poor reviewers. Take accountability. I see many (similar) negative reviews here you can spend some time making public responses for. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar - try it.

My husband is 78 years old.He has been in this country for 57 years. He came here legally, was a successful restaurant owner for many years, has owned several pieces of real estate ,raised three children and has paid property taxes and income taxes during his stay here. Last Friday, he took all his credentials to the Greek Embassy in Atlanta to renew his Greek passport . He has not been to Greece for at least 35 years. He wants to go to visit since he has retired. The man ,who was to issue the passport ,was rude and said everything to imply that my husband had a fake passport from 1991 and that he was not who he claimed to be. The last passport my husband had was issued from the office there in Atlanta. My husband tried to explain to no avail. .The man was rude and very unprofessional ,therefore the low score for the visit. I hope he treats other Greeks with more respect than he showed my husband.

Does US green card holder need visa to enter EU countries in general and Greece in particular. If so what is the fee for the visa for Greece. What other documents are required for the visa process. Thanx

They are terrible. Don't apply through Greece if possible. Yes green card holders have to apply for visa. You need tons of documents and might need to go there few times to satisfy them if you are unlucky. Visa fee 75 dollars.
