There is an area you can reserve. Usually, it's set up for wedding ceremonies but you can call and ask if you can reserve it for a picnic.

There are grassy spots nearby but I'm not sure if it there is a designated picnic area or not. I've had a small picnic there with no problems. I'm sure as long as you leave no trash it's ok to picnic for a bit.
