We have generally shopped in Lake Placid.
There's a trail behind the campground that leads to a beautiful waterfall and you can walk through the woods along the gorge. Also down the road a little farther than the Flume Trail there's a great swimming hole and a nice rock to jump off into the water.
There is also a small one in Wilmington and a great camp shop with tons of craft brews and some food essentials at another campground down the road a couple minutes.
