You can easily see the pollution from Vegas. There is a dark sky paradise 3 hours north of the city.
If you drive THROUGH Red Rock Canyon area via Blue Diamond Road direction, you can get pretty far away from any ambient light and people. There are stops for lookouts and you can hike down from there to get some BEAUTIFUL vistas under a clear, brightly lit sky. The light starts to fade the second you pass the Blue Diamond, little town area.
