I was thinking of having my wedding here. But in some photos the beach is covered in seaweed and gunk, others it's clean. So when should I go so the beach doesn't look like sea slime?

It was really bad when we went in August 2019. Hopefully it has cleared out...the algea. The smell was the worst part.

I would call the Park District to ask about maintenance and how often they do it, that would give you a good idea on which days would be best for you

We were just there for on Oct 5 and the beach was beautiful. Super clean, cool, the only thing was a thunderstorm rolled in.
