At Hocking Hills State Park, you must remain on the trails. That said, you can mushroom hunt (except the nature preserves like Conkle's Hollow), but you CANNOT leave the trail - you must reach it from the trail. There are three things you can collect from Hocking Hills State Park (without your feet walking off the trail)- edible mushrooms, pine cones, and edible nuts and berries. However, you can go mushroom hunting in the state forest without these specific trail boundaries.
