I'd like to backpack through and camp then get up and walk some more then camp is this possible can I just walk then set up camp were ever and have a small fire or do I need to camp at a camp site?

There are designated sites and they are very close to each other. You will hear more then the birds and the wind. Your are not allowed to camp outside the designated sites.
