This listing is referring to Grandfather Mountain State Park, not to be confused with the privately owned Grandfather Mountain nature park (Mile High Swinging Bridge, wildlife habitats, etc.). Admission to the latter costs $22 per adult and $9 per child, and reservations are now required, although various discounts are available (AAA, military, senior, etc.). Check their website. They ask what approximate time you're arriving, then you can pay online, print out your pass, directions, information; show your pass at the gate. Free parking all over the park. Once in, only gift shop items & food cost.
