If you do not have a greencard a letter from immigration will do just fine with your work permit. This is if they want additional information on your immigration status. This will determine the expiration date on your id as well and the conditions on which you receive them.
Please keep in mind you would need of your documents, such as passport, birth certificate, SS card too
