I think so. Like De Ann said, plan for breaks. You might have to help him/her out in a few spots, but you should be alright. It's not an easy hike for someone that young, mostly because it is seven miles round trip. And it's a real hike, not a nature walk. We plan on taking our almost four year old for memorial day this year.
I agree with the previous commeenys. Only thing to add: Make sure you have enough water in Feb we used 1ltr of water each and a few snack bars. We meet a park ranger on the trail and he stated there are plenty of people that get into trouble with "flip flops and 12oz in the middle of July".
Lots of breaks there is a couple of spots that can be steep
I hiked it over labor Day and it was pretty hot. I'm not in the best shape, but it was fairly easy once you get past the first few sets of switchbacks. I would say a kid could do it, but if they get tired halfway, it's a long way back, so just be prepared for that.
I would say no..pretty rough hike for a small tyke
