If you do bring your dog, please make sure you: a) go during a cooler season, start extra early in the morning, and bring a lot of water so that your dog doesn't die of a heat stroke and b) respectfully, please remember to bring poop bags to pick-up after your dog and carry the used bags out with you. This is a memorial site where 19 firefighters died - leaving dog poops out is disrespectful.
Yes but it's a tough trail and takes around 4 hrs round trip. We tried but made it only 3/4 of the way up because of the heat. As long as you have enough water and the dog is in good health go for it!
It's a hiking trail so of course!
We were told it's a very intense walk, almost straight up. No dogs allowed. Just being there was like being on hallowed ground. My husband is looking forward to the movie. He's retired Forest Service. Used to do fires.
Just please make sure to bring enough water for you both!! It's a pretty good trek. Have fun!
