Elzie C. Segar Memorial Park honors Chester Illinois native and “Popeye” creator. This is a 900 pound, 6 feet tall bronze statue and is a tribute to his character “Popeye the Sailor. This located on HWY 51 in Chester near the Chester Bridge on the Mississippi River. I grew up in this same county of Randolph in Illinois. Anyone remember part of the song?? (And I fights to the finish, cause I eats me spinach, I’m Popeye the Sailor Man! Toot! Toot!). 😊

I'm sure they are. I was just there on Thursday and saw a person who had a little dog on a leash. The visitor center is closed due to the Covid thing.
