Real special place to honor the Granite mountain Hotshots, as a Wildland firefighter this was a true blessing to experience, god bless all the Hotshots and firefighter for doing what they do

The Earth displays God's Majesty!!! Once in a lifetime trip to Granite Mountain Hot Shots - where tragically 19 firefighters died in 2013 while battling a fire πͺ

Great hike, about 7 miles, the Memorialβs on the trail are inspiring. Start early, before it gets too hot, take plenty of water and trail mix, wear good hiking boots. Worth the time and effort!

Yay! I paid my respect at this memorial site. Took my 4.5 round trip of 7miles according to All Trails app. Pros- free small parking, moderate trails, easy to navigate the trails, worth the seeing the top observation area. You can go another half a mile to see the circle memorial grave site. Cooler weather than PHX. The view is decent. Rest area with a bench. The plat is amazing thereβs cute tiny American flags around the rocks. Not busy when I went so come early at 7am. Small parking lot. Cons- if you hike all the way down going you will hike back up. Lots of switch backs trails. Lots of black ants and bees. Lots of Geico. Not a whole lot of shades. The hike Feels long. As always, the drill, you are hiking in AZ so come prepared with lots of water, proper shoes, hat, sunglasses, bring a backpack. Snacks. Sunblocks. I recommend this trail for those who like adventure. Have fun! Blessings!

Off the little granite mountain trail. On iron springs rd.
Not on the trail, but there are in the parking lot.
If you want to know more about them, there is a movie. Only the Brave. It was released October 2017. It is am awesome movie.
Doubt it as there is no electricity for miles around it.
If you do bring your dog, please make sure you: a) go during a cooler season, start extra early in the morning, and bring a lot of water so that your dog doesn't die of a heat stroke and b) respectfully, please remember to bring poop bags to pick-up after your dog and carry the used bags out with you. This is a memorial site where 19 firefighters died - leaving dog poops out is disrespectful.
I think so. Like De Ann said, plan for breaks. You might have to help him/her out in a few spots, but you should be alright. It's not an easy hike for someone that young, mostly because it is seven miles round trip. And it's a real hike, not a nature walk. We plan on taking our almost four year old for memorial day this year.
