The Humane Society of North Texas is Open Door, meaning that we accept all incoming animals, regardless of the condition of the animal. We do not have a waiting list and we will never reject an animal. We don’t impose a time limit on an animal’s stay and strive to find new ways to treat animals with medical or behavior problems, as well as enrich the pets in our shelters. We do sometimes have to euthanize animals, but mainly for reasons pertaining to health or temperament. When our shelter is full, unfortunately we may need to euthanize for space; however, only as a last resort. We do everything in our power to find homes for all pets in our care or transfer them to other shelters, rescues, or fosters. I hope this helps answer your questions.
