This is genuine history. They have a very small budget and could use some donations yo help try to preserve the building there. Don't get upset you couldn't go in some, it was most likely for your safety. I've been going there for over 40 years and yes the buildings get older too. If you are into history, it's definitely worth the very small admission price.
We enjoyed walking around looking at all the buildings, reading the history even workout an event. I've been to both and yes, an event is more interactive and lively but without an event, it's still a nice quiet place to walk and learn some AZ history. Definitely not a tourist trap.
This place is full of history. Not a tourist trap , in fact it's the opposite. If you want a real deal experience then it's a must. If you're looking for entertainment then go to Legoland.
It's only worth it on a day volunteers are scheduled to be there otherwise there is no interaction and many of the buildings are closed.
We enjoyed it. It's not Disneyland, they don't have a large budget, but they have good history on display. If you're interested in going, try to go during one of their festivals (we went for their fall festival), they have more stuff to do then
Actual history
It's worth it.
There is not much going on unless there is an event.
Check the Arizona Civil War Councils calender. They have events there, sometimes. Live fire black powder is used in their reenactments. Heck of a show in addition to some great interactions. You can even join up if you felt so inclined.
The telephone portion was interesting. The rest is not worth the trip.
I remember this being the ABSOLUTE BEST field trip EVER from when I was little... ❤
You cant go inside alot of the buildings. I did not like it
Not a tourist trap at all. We learned a lot about the history and the building are actually from the city. They moved them all there.
