Dear Progressive Heart, A green burial (sometimes referred to as a natural burial) is simple in design and follows our ancestors way of burying the dead from long ago. A green burial is also very similar to that of a Jewish Orthodox or Muslim burial ritual. The body is not embalmed but instead is bathed/washed, then dressed in cotton clothing, wrapped in a cotton blanket or a shroud, and placed in a simple all wood construction box.
