It is very unpredictable, you really need to be well prepared, carry snow Chan's, extra blankets, and food water,flash light,cell phone carry cat litter it will help if you get stuck,or a bag of rock salt.always check with weather and hwy patrol..have fun and enjoy the beautiful land and all the beauty Oregon has..don't for get to check out horse rail falls next to the beauitful MULTNOMAH falls,oh the big water Dam is a must see as well,and bridge of the gods is always look to check out,it crosses the grate Columbia River from Oregon to Washington state in just minutes..it all just so beauitful and peace full.
I-84 has heavily shaded zones that can have black ice after a winter storm. We drove it 12/25 and much of it was icy. If it's raining, be cautious of deep water puddeling which can cause hydro planing.
I would expect freezing rain at one end of the gorge or the other.
I would prepare for ice and snoe
The east side of the state is supposed to get rain, it would be unusual for the west side to have snow since the east is generally colder than the west. You could run into ice and or snow near Cascade Locks. They are more affected by the Cascade mountains.
Forcasts in this area change rapidly, always be prepared in that area.
