The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is one of the most spectacular and underrated areas in the United States. The scenic gorge is home to many spectacular waterfalls, the most spectacular and popular being Multnomah Falls right along I-84, not to be missed. You may need a permit for the waterfall corridor, the most popular area in the park. We recommend stopping at the other waterfalls and taking the trails to get away from other visitors, especially above Horsetail Falls and the other waterfalls. Other areas that our worth a visit in the park is the Old Historic Highway (first dedicated scenic highway every built in the United States) and Vista House.

Always love visiting here! We'll be working at night paving a new road surface. I get to experience this beauty daily now. Road construction is beginning on I84, lasting until mid November 2022. Please observe the posted 55mph speed limit. Be aware and slow down and move over. Help keep us safe!

We drove up the gorge and thoroughly enjoyed the drive. There was a plethora of waterfalls, beautiful cliffs, and nature.

There is a parking lot at the entrance and there is so much to see in the area. Waterfalls, trails and cliffs for hiking. Approximately 45 minutes from Portland, this area is so popular with both locals and tourists. Hiking is range from easy to challenging. You will not get bored while heading to the waterfalls and hiking areas thanks to the scenic drive. So peaceful 🙏

Because hundreds of years ago. According to indian legend, there was a natural land bridge there. And when the people on both sides of the river started warring with each other. The gods destroyed it... Or so the story goes.
Try Bonneville dam as an address, the Sturgeon habit display, and trout ponds are a great family adventure forsure
Skamania lodge, absolutely gorgeous views and the food is amazing, zip lines and golf at the lodge also. You have to do the climb up to the top of beacon rock it's an easy climb and again the views don't disappoint.
I think low cost housing is an issue throughout the gorge. I think there is some behind the hospital in White Salmon.
My preference is White Salmon. Why? 1. Tourist may occasionally come across the bridge from Hood River, but it is more a home town community. 2. The views from White Salmon side are at a higher elevation, so in the right locations, you can see the whole gorge. 3. The city boasts a very active, up-to-date book library, which is particularly fun as the library staff invites school teachers and other guests to tell stories. For examples: this summer they had a delightful Star Wars event, wherein guests made paper airplanes and flew the different kinds through mazes; last night they had a special Halloween gathering - the children love them. They share a real community spirit. The city has an outdoor swimming pool in a fabulous 😍😻👍 setting, a large, very well-maintained city park. Ask about their lower level some time and I'll report on Bingen - the town down the hill from White Salmon.
It is a slice of heaven. I live in the Gorge and I have most of my life. I've moved away several times in the past, but I have always returned. It's absolutely beautiful here, all year around.
I'm sorry, I don't know.
