Repeated exposures to camera flashes fade certain types of artifacts. Additionally, the Alamo church has been designated a shrine by the State of Texas and as such is a place of reverence and reflection.

As the others said, it's designated as the "Memorial" part of the state park. Technically people died all over the place because all the men there decided to risk their lives and those of their women, children, and slaves. Still, it's a fun piece of Texas history.
Dinners are NOT held inside the Alamo or inside the 1836 boundaries. Perhaps you're thinking of Alamo Hall, a converted 1922 fire station outside the boundaries.

No idea. Since they holst private dinners in there. Very hypocritical, in my opinion. But apparently money trumps respect for the dead.
