They will not let this happen as they are committed to the continued restoration of The Alamo. Extensive studies have been done and one had shown that a main source of deterioration was water infiltration. They completed the Church Facade Stabilization in 2015. Physical improvement projects continue. The General Land Office of the State of Texas owns The Alamo and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. While not fully guaranteed to be protected it would most probably be preserved by another nonprofit group before Texas would let it deteriorate.
