My parents are Panamanian citizens. My brother and I were born in NY. We plan to travel to Panama to get our cedulas next month. We know we need to get our birth certificates certified at the NY Consulate but we don't know what is required?

If your parents are not in Panama, you will need certified documentation that they are Panamanians and you are their child (Consulate can validate this... more signed paperwork and additional cost). You will also need copies of their Cédula and someone that can vouch for you (address verification in Panama) when they perform the background check. Bring/submit as much original copies as possible... even pay the cost to get another copy of BC from the city/state.
