Went to Consulate General of Malaysia today (10/05/22) to renew my passport for the 1st time. They were so friendly, efficient and gave excellent service. Got everything done in 55 minutes. Well done Malaysian team.

9-29-2022 Excellent Service - Very Nice And Friendly People. We were impressed with the entire experience. It was fast and easy. We were early for our appointment and they took us right away. We were very happy as the renewal process was very easy and quick. We were actually 40 min early and we left before our actual appointment time. Mission accomplished !

I have been calling them for a while, either there phone number is not accurate or they just don't answer the phone. Very frustrating.

I think you should go to the US Consulate in Malaysia to get more information from them. Hopefully this will help.
How long did it take for you to get your appointment scheduled after you sent an email request?
Check which consulate you are to contact (DC, NYC or LA). It depends on which state you live in. Email them for an appointment. They respond very quickly. There is a list of documents that is required. The most important is the new myKad which has a chip. There is no need to bring passport photos because they will capture a picture there.
If you are fully vaccinated you are free from test and insurance. But you need to install mysejatera app.
Did you make an appointment with them? Details should be posted in your e-mail confirmation.
the office only accept appointment only. No walk in. Please write an email to them to schedule an appointment
As far as i know, anyone can get vaccinated in US even whose without insurance.

Your ic ? What card are you referring to ?
Yes
The consulate closes on all Malaysian and US federal holidays. So they will close on Memorial Day.
There is no official translator at the consulate. Better to have someone from your side to assist her. Make sure she brings along all the relevant documents such as NRIC, VISA or Green Card. If possible, have them photocopied as the Consulate charge $1 per document.
Best to call them to verify. I think it's $70 to renew passport but please verify with them. They have a photo taking service and bring your MYcard/IC.
Bring: 1. MyKad and 1 copy 2. Old pasport 3. Usd70 for 5 years
I believe you do not need visa to Malaysia if you have US passport.
No, you do not.
Yes, you can get your passport renewed in a day but be there very early to submit in your application
