R I have Access. Also Colon Cancer
If an Emergency Dept. employee told you that it is not an accurate statement. IF you have an emergeny life threatening condition, i.e. severe chest pain, broken limb, loss of blood, etc. then the ER is obligated to see you. If it is flu, cold, rash, etc. the Urgent Care is where a pt. should go. They will tell you however if they have too many pts that your wait could be 6 or more hours to be seen The worst times to go to an ER for non emergent needs are Friday, Saturday, Sunday. TMC is a trauma center and a life flight destination so severe emergencies and accidents can overwhelm them quickly. Some insurance carriers will not pay for an ER visit if an urgent Care would have been appropriate. Hope this helps.
