They do NOT give medication on the first visit for new patients. Regardless if you have been seen by a doctor outside of the Metrocare system. On the first visit you must qualify for their clinic, have a way to pay (even if the state is covering the bill) and fill out your medical and psych history. They also give you a case worker on this visit and set you appointments for the second visit. On the second visit you will be evaluated by their doctor and then you can get meds (if prescribed by the doctor) at the clinic pharmacy. All walk-ins must be there when they open. I would suggest being there by 7 am Monday-Friday, some days there are lines. They only see a set number of walk-ins per day. Expect to be there the entire day. All scheduled appointments come first. Walk-ins are fit in between the appointments, filling in the no-show and cancellation time slots.
Yes, they take walk-ins. But you need to be there BEFORE the doors open at 7:45 am.
