Cook County clinic's have over a boat load of patients that doctors see on a regular basis so, if you are a walk first you have to fill out the necessary paperwork secondly, you will then get a appointment. Getting a appointment may be one or two months due to the over load of patients. As far as insurance goes, it's not a free clinic; if you don't have any insurance Cook County clinics and or hospitals will help you get medical insurance. If you feel you need urgent care, go straight to the ER.
Sadly, you have to be an existing patient to be a walk-in. I showed up as a walk-in on 6/20 and they wouldn't take me, gave me an appointment for 2 months later. I ended up going to the ER and learned within an hour after being admitted that because of my symptoms, I'd had a small stroke. One of many reasons why I absolutely hate the Englewood Health Center. And, a lot of the staff are soooo unprofessional. You definitely get what you pay for here if you have "free" insurance.
