The campground doesn't have staff, so it's always "open". I recommend getting there during the day when it's so hot that most people leave, that way you'll have your choice of campsite. I believe they prefer that you limit your camping to a maximum of 14 days. The last time I was there it was $15/day that you drop in a box when you leave.
