Is it possible to sit outside and get a good view of planes as they take off and land?

What a romantic guy Brian...I can see a 747 bound for Vegas taking off from here in Deptford.

You can see the planes approaching Philadelphia Airport but unless you have 300+mm lens you cannot fill the frame with the plane.
