Ms. Nelling, at the present time, beach tents are not allowed in unincorporated areas of Horry County, which includes the 1300 block of North Waccamaw. You can see a full list of the regulations here: https://www.horrycounty.org/About-Our-Beaches While neither Georgetown County nor Surfside Beach currently have a ban in place, Surfside Beach has discussed the issue and has attempted to add a ban in the past. We believe they've decided against it for now, however.

No tents on the beach..the police will come and take them
I was there last July and tents were allowed behind the lifeguard stands close to the dunes. It's not an ideal location because the sand is usually very hot in this area.
I know for a fact no tents in Surfside beach
