Wondering if those are really the facts here. Seems like something isn't right with that story. Like maybe a lease was already signed? Perhaps?

Sadly, yes those are the facts. Her roommate doesn't qualify on her own so they are forcing my friend to either find a replacement roommate or she's forced into another lease.
