Not everyone is perfect. If it bothers you then you are the person that needs to go around in double check on what everybody does. Always check and double-check specially if you are going out of your way for an event.

I always use Golf Now for the courses down there. Especially the ones located in Palmetto dunes. Usually less expensive and even has a rewards program they just added a month ago. Calling the day before to confirm your time and the # you have booked is always a good idea.
