From what I understand only trained service dogs are allowed. I've seen people with dogs there off season and off hours. There is a dog friendly beach near the Port Jefferson Yacht Club (not too far from Cedar) that some call Doggy Beach.
Technically no dogs, but it's not enforced. I frequent there and i am one of many that takes their dog.
As long as you clean up after your dog nobody will object. I go with my dog frequently.
Brookhaven Town is not dog friendly including Cedar Beach. Signs are posted and Town staff may ask you to leave.
