I'm writing this recommendation for all the families that come to the point where they want to do what's best for their aging parents. In the past 5 months that my mom has been at the Bristal at Mt.Sinai I have answered many questions asked of me about the place, and I always answer without hesitation, That I love the place. First of all, they have someone at the front desk 24/7.That is important to me because the last place my parents were at did not. I got a call that my father had fallen, I was heading out East and I quickly turned around, Frantic about his condition I called for 45 minutes on my way back, trying to find out, but no one answered. I was livid, and just for curiosity's sake I called the Bristal, and they answered the phone right away. My second reason is that the entire staff is so happy. I have not seen one person grumpy. Either they live a life of Bliss, or they are just professional and leave any problems at the front door. I visit 5 times a week and I feel like they are my friends. If people around you aren't happy how could your loved one be happy? And that is what my prayers for my mom are, to be happy. Third, they keep the residents engaged. My mom is in the Reflections side for memory care, which I was always afraid for my mom to enter. But here it is beautiful and cheerful. They do not sit in their room. They have music, they play games they have a movie theater, A tranquil quiet room, Physical Therapy, snack time and 2 beautiful courtyards. They are very considerate of their residents, where they let you visit whenever you want, they only ask that during mealtimes they don't want visitors. When I asked why I was told that not all residents have family close by and they didn't want any one's feelings to be hurt. It's time for the family of residents to enjoy their meal together. But boy does it smell good when you leave! Above all, as you leave you feel comfortable and secure in knowing that your loved one is being taken care of at the BRISTAL OF MOUNT SINAI.

Mid February to the beginning of March 2022 was a very difficult time for my sisters and me. Only one sister lived close to my parents who at the time, were at another Assisted Living Facility in the Port Jefferson, NY area. Another sister was 5 hours away in upstate NY, 2 sisters in FL and me in GA. Our father unexpectedly went into the hospital mid Feb and the NY sisters were taking turns caring for Dad in the hospital and for Mom, who was alone at their Assisted Living. Mom, without Dad, really needed the Memory Care facility. All of us were starting not to be happy with the care (really lack there of) mom was getting and we had to make a decision quickly as to whether she stayed where she was but in the Memory Care side or move her entirely. The FL and GA contingency came up to help with our parents and assess the situation along with the NY sisters. After touring the facility and speaking with Jennifer Rubino, we all agreed on moving Mom. Jennifer sat with all of us, at different times and answered every question we threw at her and even had some ideas we did not even think about. It was not an easy decision as we knew Mom was now alone and scared without our Dad, and we were taking her away from where she was now comfortable, but we knew it was in her best interest. Mom LOVES Bristal. She finds it to be so elegant. It is bright, cheery and the garden and craft rooms are so welcoming. The staff is so kind and loving to Mom, which means the world to us, as we are all so far away. We know she is in good hands. Thank you Bristal for loving and caring for our Mom the way you do!

Very concerned family member of an existing resident. Edit: In response to the reply from Bristal. I have spoken to the director and although Karen is a nice woman, I don't feel any less concerned. I have doubts about this facilities ability to properly train staff and to hold people accountable for quality care. If you're willing to leave your email address here, I will be happy to reach out.

Our mother was fortunate to become one of the first residents of the newly opened Bristal Assisted Living facility in Mt Sinai, NY. She feels very fortunate to live in such a beautiful new environment. More importantly, she is surrounded by an extremely caring and helpful staff. Every one of the staff have gone above and beyond to make our mom feel at home. She is always telling us about how great the people at the Bristal are. We have been pleasantly surprised at how smoothly she transitioned into her new home. It is a big relief to us to know that she is so happy there. Thanks to everyone at the Bristal!
